Alchemy (魔術, Majutsu): is the scientific discipline involved with creation of Magic.
History[]
It's unknown whether or not Alchemy has existed for as long as Magic, but it has been around since the birth of Christ, at least.[1] Torrey Innis states that it was originally born from Magic, as it was too imprecise and required a lot of inborn talent. Individuals felt that it needed to be observed and studied to understand the way it worked and why it worked, leading to its creation.[2]
In present times, there are few people born with the ability to perform Magic.[3] Additionally, many magical users have died during the "Great War". It has since become unusual, but not rare, to find young people with some magical abilities to bring them up as an Alchemist, or to abduct into slavery to ensure the continuation of the magic disciplines.[4][5]
Overview[]
Those who study and perform Alchemy are known as Alchemists. They do not interfere with Natural Laws by breaking them, but instead, they study these laws and learn to manipulate them in order to achieve their desired result.[6] As Alchemists aren't born with Magic in the form of magical energies inside their bodies, they are forced to access it by turning their own physical energy into magic with the use of Alchemy.[7] It is noted that doing so carves away at their lives as well.[8]
Usage[]
It's so far unknown to what extent Alchemy can be used to get the same results as a Mage. However, Alchemists are able to achieve the same outcome as Mages by tracing "the path of their work".[9] What Alchemists are able to perform can range from creating chimeras, arms, devices that achieve the same results as teleportation, cause plants to grow at a rapid speed and manipulate the objects within their surrounding.[10][11][12][13][14][15]
