Introduction

Live and let live. (生きて生きる。, Ikite ikiru) is the 24th and final episode of the first season of The Ancient Magus Bride anime.
Synopsis[]
The final confrontation between Chise and Joseph is near, where the two settle the score between each other, and Joseph is put to rest by Chise.
Summary[]
Chise is now face to face with Joseph, who questions her why she pursued him, and they begin to clash over their viewpoints of life, resulting in Chise provoking him into fighting her. As Joseph evades Chise's attempts, she's intercepted by Ashen Eye, who reveals his involvement with Stella while the restraints on her cursed arm break.
Taking advantage of the situation, Joseph summons a massive swarm of centipedes to attack her, but is protected by Ruth and Elias. The latter and the newly arrived Jade Ariel fuse and defeat Ashen Eye, who tries to flee with Joseph, allowing Chise a chance to confront him. She attempts to make him fall asleep, but fails and thus allows Joseph to impale her mortally. However, Chise uses this moment to her advantage as Ruth plucks out his left eye and is sequentially entangled by Elias's thorns. Chise then sings a lullaby making Joseph fall asleep while Ruth, Elias, and Ariel stand by and watch.
After Chise finishes her lullaby to Joseph, her friends help her as she passes out on Elias' lap, and Renfred, Alice who was carrying Will o' The Wisp and Stella arrive the scene. Commenting how he fulfilled his promise, Elias carries Chise leaves with Ruth, who carries Joseph on his back.
Chise later finds herself conversing with Cartaphilus in the form of a fragment of Joseph concerning how he will keep her alive and that one day the dragon's curse will kill her. Awakening in a bed beside Elias, Chise briefly argues with him until Silver Lady interrupts it by hugging her; immediately after it, they restart their argument.
Eventually, Chise and Ruth head off to see Angelica as Elias speaks to Simon in his living room and briefs the priest on what has occurred since Chise's awakening. Before heading to London, however, Chise heads down a well to refresh the water given to the resting Joseph. As she leaves, Ashen Eye appears and comments about the state of events before leaving shortly after.
Chise and Ruth later head to London, where she receives a few gifts from Angelica before meeting up with Stella and her family to celebrate the two of them. They exchange gifts before Chise heads back home. Elias is then prompted to follow the Jade Ariel to meet up with Chise at the entrance to the Fairy World. When he arrives, he sees Chise in a wedding dress that she had received from Stella, while the veil is from Angelica. Chise hands Elias a ring, and they both ask for each other's support, renewing their bond as both apprentice and teacher.
