Introduction
|
The Boy From the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm: Part 2 (西の少年と青嵐の騎士：中篇, Nishi no Shōnen to Seiran no Kishi: Chūhen) is the second original animation DVD of The Ancient Magus' Bride: The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm.
Summary[]
Hoping to remedy Chise's chills, Elias and his companions search for the lone horse's master while Gabriel, now called Gabe, gives the Mysterious Boy the name Evan to search for what he's missing. However, when Evan regains his memory of who he is and his duty, Gabe scorns the fact as he's losing a friend he's cherished so much.
Plot Overview[]
Chise awakens in her room covered by a ton of Cotton Flies with Elias and Ruth closeby. Releasing the Cotten Flies from the room, Elias suggests they help the Lone Horse find its master to reunite with the Wild Hunt to cure her chills.
Meanwhile, Gabriel enjoys breakfast in his kitchen while his Mother and Father notice how cold he feels. Later, Gabriel visits his tree house and tries to serve the Mysterious Boy some breakfast, but he refuses. As Gabriel figures its best, they search for whatever the boy is looking for; the boy becomes intrigued by a poster featuring a knight with his horse companion. Gabriel then explains the background of the characters on the poster while using the associated action figures to help his explanation. During their talk, Gabriel asks for the boy's name; however he can't remember it, so Gabriel decides on Evan. The name was derived from an old French story. With that, Gabriel asks to be called Gabe, and the two head out.
Briefly switching to Chise's side, she, along with Ruth, Elias, and the horse, decide where to start searching for the horse's master. Before they leave, Silver Lady gives them some pies to enjoy for their trip.
Back to Gabe and Evan, they go on an excursion around the area, which leads to a widespread view of the local plaines. There Evan admits that he feels it's been a while since he's last been outside. Gabe then confesses how he can relate to Evan's sentiment because of his asthma. An overcast begins to settle, and Gabe suggests they head onward, to which Evan agrees.
Exchanging the pies that Silver gave to them, Chise's group receives advice from the local Fae about what direction the Wild Hunt headed toward. They soon run into Oberon, Titania, and Spriggan, who, after being briefed about the situation, are told by Spriggan to head to the Old Battlefield.
As Evan and Gabe continue onward, Evan notices that Gabe isn't wearing his inhaler, which Gabe downplays. However, moments after this, Gabe has an asthma attack, and because of it, they rest at a bus stop. Gabe then returns a soccer ball to a few boys around his age, and they invite him to play with them, but they retract their offer after seeing his inhaler. This exchange causes Gabe to lose his temper and toss his inhaler on the ground, which Evan picks up and then confronts malignant spirits.
Panic-stricken, the two flee to where Gabe first found the rock, and the malignant spirits try to touch Gabe; however, Elias' thorn prevents them. Chise, Ruth, and the horse then arrive at the scene, causing Evan to realize the horse is his and then blows on his horn, which causes the horse and Evan to transform into his true form and regain his lost memories.
Contrary to being happy for Evan, Gabe was upset by this turn of events and had a coughing fit. When Chise tries to console him, Gabe brushes her off and demands to know who Elias is, but he suggests that Gabe leave or else he'd die. Chise then gives Gabe a full explanation about Evan and the Wild Hunt. Begrudgingly, Gabe accepts the facts, but insists he waits with them until Evan is reunited with his companions. Hence, to avoid suspicions with his parents, Elias creates a Golem of Gabe to take his place until the real one returns home.
At Elias' house, Chise gives words of consolement to Gabe, and after she leaves him, smoke billows from Gabe's bag as he recites the story's end that he named Evan after.
