Ulthar (ウルタル Urutaru): is a town in England, widely known as "the town where cats gather around".[1]

Ulthar is the place where Chise and Elias was sent to handle one of the three jobs given to them by the church.
Localization[]
Ulthar is set somewhere in England and it's inhabited by humans, but more importantly by cats as well. It's a place where the cats congregate, meaning that it's a place where several of them gather, as even their king presides within this town.[2]
Trivia[]
- The events that occur in this place are inspired by H.P Lovecraft's short story "The Cats of Ulthar". Unlike the manga and anime, in the original story Ulthar is found in the Land of Dreams "beyond the river Skai," which can be visited only by human dreamers (although sometimes those who die in the human world are reborn into the Dreamlands). Ulthar is notable for its ancient law that "in Ulthar, no man may kill a cat," which in turn has caused the town to be saturated with felines. The cats of Ulthar are also sentient, have a tribal community that spans worlds, and can communicate directly with those who know the language of cats.
