The Wild Hunt are a band of fae that haunt the British Isles and supporting characters in Mahoutsukai no Yome: Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi.
History[]
The Wild Hunt are spirits of a band of knights that arrive with a storm near the summer solstice every twenty of thirty seasons, to hunt horses. The Wild Hunt leave death in their wake as where they go their presence causes plants to die. However, the effect is not malicious as old branches and weeds are culled, allowing for new growth in the area.
Plot[]
During a storm, the Wild Hunt who slept beneath a ring of standing stones were roused from their slumber. By chance, a lightning struck one of the boulders where they slept, causing a fragment to shatter off of the rock. The rock contained the head knight and his steed. They were separated and unable to manifest properly, leaving the Wild Hunt without a leader. The Wild Hunt were unable to organize ranks properly and road into the nearby forest with reckless abandon causing untold death.
Unknown to the knights, the next morning, a young boy from London named Gabriel discovered the rock fragment containing the spirit of the knight and took it home with him.
